For the budget minded, who want a well designed, lightweight and easy to use and easy to set up telescope. I would suggest you buy a barlow lens as this will give you more variation with your eyepieces, saving you from buying extra eyepieces and spending a lot of money.

If you want to view the planets these celestron telescopes won’t let you down. Though small Saturn is very bright with crisp and clear views.

Saturn’s rings with the Cassini division is clearly visible so is Saturn’s largest moon Titan. You can clearly see two cloud bands around Jupiter and if you have a clear night you will just be able to see the great red spot.

All four of Jupiter’s moons are visible and you can see their shadow on Jupiter as they orbit the gas giant. Mars did not give good views as the planet is too small for this telescope.

These celestron telescopes are not for deep sky viewing, they simply don’t have the power. But you will get good views of the brighter objects in the milky way. If you are a first time buyer you will need to first know what it is you want from your telescope. If deep sky viewing is going to be your main interest, then you are going to need a telescope with large aperture.

If you’re on a budget I would suggest you take a look at the Dobsonian telescopes, you can buy a 6″, 8″ and 10″ at a lower price than any other telescope on the market. But if viewing the planets and double stars is what you are after then these celestron telescopes are good.
