I purchased this great little telescope for my nephew. These are great telescope’s for a child, it’s small, lightweight, and is very easy for a child to move around.

Even though I usually don’t like cheap telescopes, these little Orion telescopes are not cheap on the views they will give you. So even if your child loses interest with it, you will have a great telescope for yourself to use for many years to come.

The Sky-quest is a sturdy telescope with a three sided rocker box that has a spring tension system. It is a well constructed and sturdy telescope which will last for many years to come.

I viewed Saturn and Jupiter and the views were sharp, crisp, and clear with good detail. You will clearly see Saturn’s ring system and two cloud bands on Jupiter. Jupiter’s five moons are clearly visible and show up as bright stars.

I also viewed many of the brighter objects such as M81, M82 and M101 (Pin Wheel). I have been pleasantly surprised at this little telescope’s performance.

Surprisingly this is quite a powerful telescope for the money and would give any child or adult a great deal of pleasure for years to come. The testing I have done has been surprisingly good and I found no problems with the 4.5″ Sky Quest.

Orion Telescope Recommendation

You’re going to get your moneys worth with these little Dobsonian Orion telescopes. In fact it would still be good value at $300. I can highly recommend this telescope.
